PRECISIONS MEASURING WHEELS – TECHNICAL NOTES
Measuring wheels are precision devices that can achieve very high measurement accuracies. The quoted accuracies and standard deviations always relate to laboratory conditions in which the wheel runs whilst fixed to a powered cylinder.
The accuracies achievable in practice are almost always well below the manufacturer’s data – detected in the laboratory. In real terms and with correct use, one should work on the basis of an attainable accuracy of 0.5% of the measurement. Therefore we consider that there is little purpose in carrying out an official calibration of a measuring wheel, although this is theoretically possible, since this is very expensive and does not lead to better results.

All mechanical measuring wheels that we offer have particularly abrasion-resistant tyres and a measurement range of up to 9999.9 m. The selected model is in many cases a matter of taste.
